Belgian-style Waffles (Crispy and Fluffy, 와플) 🧇

Sweets & baking🕒 90 mins🍽️ 3 servings

My notes for this recipe

Many different styles of waffles are popular in Korea, from simple street snacks filled with cream to thick café-style waffles served with fruit and ice cream.

This version is inspired by Belgian-style waffles, with a lightly crisp exterior and a soft, fluffy center. Serve them warm with powdered sugar, syrup, fresh fruit, whipped cream, or your favorite toppings.

The batter is easy to prepare and works well for breakfast, dessert, or an afternoon snack.

Instructions

  1. Place the flour in a bowl.

  2. You know the basic steps for baking, right? Add the salt to one side of the bowl, and the dry yeast, sugar, and baking powder to the other side.

  3. Add water, milk, and the egg, ensuring they are all at room temperature (not cold).

  4. Mix everything together. Easy, right? I usually use an electric mixer, but this recipe is simple enough that you don’t necessarily need one.

  5. Lastly, add the melted butter. You can microwave it for about 30 seconds to get it to a liquid state.

  6. Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, then take it out and cook it in the waffle maker.
